How to Clean Your Tank and Coil

Why should you clean your Vape?

A clean vape is the simplest way to get optimal performance. Although the ingredients of vape juice will generally not stain your equipment, residue will accumulate, and the buildup will eventually affect the performance of your favorite vape. Vegetable glycerin and some darker e-juice flavorings are notorious for gunking up coils, as are most of the sweeteners used in e-liquid manufacturing.

A gunked-up coil will have lower flavor and vapor production and make the vape taste burnt. We all know that it’s very easy to burn your coil and end up having to replace it every other week, if you clean your coil regularly you will potentially get a longer lifespan out of it saving yourself money in the long run.

Even if you get just a couple more days out of your coil, it will add up and save you money as you aren’t replacing your coil as often.

How to clean your tank

If you are cleaning your coil, you might as well clean your tank at the same time. You might want to do this when you are changing flavours as to not combine the two so that you receive the flavour that you actually want. The good news is it is very simple to clean your tank!

Here’s how:

Remove the tank from your mod and remove the coil from your tank. Pay close attention to how things fit together, and make a mental note of what goes where. Keep it all organized and don’t lose any pieces. Every Tank is different so make sure you know how yours fits together so you don’t have any trouble when you are trying to reassemble it.

One by one, rinse every part of the tank under warm water, drying with a paper towel and then letting them air dry. If your tank is relatively clean already this should do the trick, cleaning your tank is very simple as you are effectively just rinsing off any of the leftover liquid.

How to clean your Coil

Cleaning your coil is a more complicated process, unfortunately. Replaceable coils income in two types: coil heads for tanks, which are encased in a small metal chamber that contain an absorbent wick; and coils for rebuildable, which require the user to install and wick. The approach to cleaning the two types is vastly different. Find out what type of coil you have and follow the steps below.

Replaceable Coils:

Replaceable coil heads that come with sub-ohm tanks can be cleaned, but they won’t completely revive them. In the best-case scenario, you will get an extra few days out of the coil. The reason behind that is the presence of wicks. Letting dirty coils soak and having water pass through them will remove some of the residues, but not all of them. And on top of that, you will need to wait for the water to fully evaporate, which may take a while. but an extra few days is still an extra few days that you can keep vaping, so it is definitely worth it! Here is how you should clean your replaceable coils:

  • Let your coil soak in ethanol, vinegar, or cheap vodka for at least a couple of hours
  • Place it under the tap and rinse
  • Rinse once more with some distilled water
  • Blow air on the open side of your coil to force water to the wicking holes
  • Set it aside until all water has evaporated

Rebuildable Coils:

If you are using a rebuildable atomizer, you should get used to cleaning your coils because you should be doing it fairly often! Gunked-up coils will quickly start suffering in flavor and vapor production. But you can follow some simple steps and have your coils almost as good as new in no time.

The first thing you have to do is remove the wicks from your coils—you don’t want to burn them. If your coils are not that bad, a light dry burn will do the trick. Pulse the fire button a few times until you remove the remaining liquid, let them cool down, and re-wick.

But if you have already done this a couple of times, dry burning might not do the trick. In that case, you can follow these steps for deeper cleaning.

  • Remove wicks from coils
  • Dry burn your coils lightly (don’t let them glow too much)
  • Remove atomizer from your mod
  • Place under running water
  • Brush them lightly with a toothbrush or a coil cleaning tool
  • Rinse once again
  • End with a final dry burn to remove the last droplets of water
  •

If your coils are still gunked up, or if flavor production has dropped significantly, then it’s time to rebuild your atomizer. Proper cleaning will greatly extend the life of your coils, but at some point, they will give in to time and extensive use.

Either replaceable coils or rebuildable coils is easy to clean.

Do u have to have the destiled water

More than likely yes as water has minerals and chemicals like chlorine in it, you do not want those burning in your coil possibly damaging them or inhaling them!
If you have a condensing tumble dryer or a heat pump dryer, the water from both is distilled.
Otherwise buy a bottle from the laundry section in supermarkets (but they tend to have scents added) car parts stores sell pure distilled water for car batteries as well.
